The Hutchins Fire Department was established as an all volunteer Fire Company in 1947.
In the Mid 1980's they hired their first Paid Full Time Firefighter. As time passed they started hiring more Full Time Firefighters
with Paramedic Certifications. In the mid 1990's they were up to 2 Full Time Firefighter/Paramedic's per shift, supplemented
by a part time and volunteer staff.
Currently the Hutchins Fire Rescue has 6 full time Firefighter/Paramedic's manning 1 station on 3, 24 hour shifts. The HFR
has an ISO PPC rating of 5 on a 1-10 scale, the last ISO inspection was in 1993 with an inspection coming in the next year to
lower the PPC. The future looks bright ahead for the HFR and the City of Hutchins With the addition of more personnel and
Station #2 in progress.....Stay tuned!
